Songs For Grownups

Dean Friedman Songs For Grownups Lyrics
1.All Grown Now

By dean friedman

We were just barely out of school when we moved in together in a
one room flat off riverside.
And in our tiny vestibule we embraced before we stepped outside,
To brave the cold, cold winds. our love begins.

Long afternoons we lay in bed, watching tv, reading romance
novels, mysteries and magazines.
And who would've guessed just up ahead we would learn what pain
and heartache means.
'cause sweet beginnings pass. they never last.

But we're all grown, all grown, all grown now.
Yes, we're all grown, all grown, all grown now.
And it doesn't really matter how the both of us arrived.
It's just a miracle that we survived.

All throughout the early years as we lived our life and made
mistakes and tried each other's sanity.
You see, in spite of all our fears we both knew that this was
meant to be.
It may have been naïve, but we believed.

In times of anger our love hid, but never fled and so we learned
that love means living with a broken heart.
And though there were times we almost did, somehow we have never
come apart.
Our souls have both been scarred, the road was hard.

And we're all grown, all grown, all grown now...

And so it's been throughout our life that when each has failed
the other finds the strength to mend the broken ties.
Because a husband and a wife must both know how to read between
the lies.
To stay may seem a curse. to leave is worse.

Now as we put the kids to bed and turn out the light you know i
can't help wondering where the time has gone.
And as they say their sweet goodnights and beg for one last
bedtime song,
I think how blessed we are, to come so far.

And we're all grown, all grown, all grown now...

2.Ayamba Yayahu(It's Just Another Day)

By dean friedman

I was standing in the middle of the planet.
I was wondering who ran it.
When suddenly the sky turned red
And a voice above me said,'

Ayamba yayahu
In this world there's nothing new
Umayim koyahey
It's just another day

I was standing under an awning.
When a cricket started yawning
He said, be sure and have your fill
'cause if you don't, the whippoorwill

Ayamba yayahu
In this world there's nothing new
Umayim koyahey
It's just another day

I was flipping through the wall street journal
The headline read 'hope springs eternal'
But in the margin it said, 'beware!
Of raging bulls and dancing bears.'

Ayamba yayahu
In this world there's nothing new
Umayim koyahey
It's just another dayayamba yayahu

I was talking to a babbling brook.
When the ground beneath me shook.
And as the rain began to pour.
I wondered, what on earth's the metaphor?

Ayamba yayahu
In this world there's nothing new
Umayim koyahey
It's just another day

I was standing in the middle of the street.
I was standing on my feet.
When suddenly the light turned red.
And a kind policeman said, '

Ayamba yayahu
In this world there's nothing new
Umayim koyahey
It's just another day

3.Dodo

By dean friedman

I have a friend, he is a remarkable guy. he teaches little
children in bedford sty.
Act too nice they'll just spit in your eye. but they know he
loves them.
He doesn't make much money and what he does he gives away.
It's not that he's foolish it's just his way.
He drove his first wife crazy and his second wife too. he says
he wishes he could change. but i know that that's not true.

He's a dodo.
He's a dodo.
He's a dodo.
He's a dodo bird

I know a woman she is 43. she spends every day of her life in
the library.
She studies neo-classical poetry. she says truth is beauty.
Surrounded by her books, she barely ever stirs, while all around
her the laptops purr.
Her heart is full of passion and the struggle for the good.
She'd sprout wings to fly away but even if she could

She's a dodo
She's a dodo
She's a dodo
She's a dodo bird

She believes in the love and beauty shining in us all.
She believes in hope and prayer and the meaning of it all.

I met a child like a flower in the sun. she puts her faith and
trust in everyone.
She isn't blind, it's just she's too young to see right through
you.
But she doesn't realize the danger she is in.
People try to warn her but she doesn't listen.
Spirited, determined, stubborn and naive.
Mourn for her lost innocence for which she soon must grieve.

She's a dodo.
She's a dodo
She's a dodo
She's a dodo bird.

4.Don't Marry That Boy

By dean friedman

Don't marry that boy. he's gonna leave you with a broken heart.
Don't marry that boy. he's gonna tear your perfect world apart.

You don't listen at all.
You say you know the score.
You've got total recall.
You've heard it all before.
I'd fade into the wall if i wasn't so sure.

And i realize you'll do what you want anyway.
And you're not gonna like it but i've still got to say...

Don't marry that boy. he's gonna leave you with a broken heart.
Don't marry that boy. he's gonna tear your perfect world apart.

If i could just get through.
If there were someone else.
He doesn't love you.
He loves himself
What i wouldn't do to stop those wedding bells.

And you know all we want is what's best for you
And we'll all still love you whatever you do.

Don't marry that boy. he's gonna leave you with a broken heart.
Don't marry that boy. he's gonna tear your perfect world apart.

And it's all been arranged so what can you do.
You tell me he's changed.
I wish it were true.
But i see the danger and i'm afraid for you.

And i know that you think that i'm being unkind.
But i wish there were some way to change your mind.

Don't marry that boy. he's gonna leave you with a broken heart.
Don't marry that boy. he's gonna tear your perfect world apart.

5.Don't Mourn, Don't Cry

By dean friedman

I never told you but it's time you learned the truth about your
mom.
She was working for the soviets when they stole the atomic bomb.
And you were born in a bomb bay in bombay when they turned the
search lights on. so,

Don't mourn, don't cry.
All god's children have a right to die.
And she did more living than the next guy.

I know some things are hard to hear but i'll say them anyway.
Your real father was a bombardier for the good old usa.
And your momma was passing secrets to the underground when they
stole your pa away. so,

Don't mourn, don't cry.
All god's children have a right to die.
And she did more living than the next guy.

It all sounds crazy, but i swear it's true; just ask your aunt
louise.
You know your momma was a lot like you and she lived her life
for peace.
So, don't be sorry for what you didn't do, just thank god for
her release.

Don't mourn, don't cry.
All god's children have a right to die.
And she did more living than the next guy.

6.God Of Abraham

By dean friedman

God of abraham i thought we had a deal
We'd live as you'd intend and you'd hold up your end
But something has gone wrong you still have not come through
What are we supposed to do?

God of abraham, god of abraham
We're still searching for, for the promised land.
God of abraham, god of abraham
Pray have pity us on lost here in the dessert in the sand.

God of abraham, answer this one if you can:
These children that you love, what are they guilty of?
What crime did they commit? what evil did they do? that they so
displeased you?

God of abraham, god of abraham
We're still searching for, for the promised land.
God of abraham, god of abraham
Pray have pity us on lost here in the dessert in the sand.

God of abraham god of abraham
Are you thirsty for a sacrificial lamb.
What became of all your promises to man?
Are you listening? or could it be you just don't give a damn?

God of abraham, forgive me if i'm wrong.
But this suffering on earth has gone on for too long.
Whatever did we do to make you so upset?
Or did you just forget?

7.Hale Bop She Bop

By dean friedman

Here's a tip:loose lips don't sink space ships.
Count those tiny blips. somebody call the cops.
Hale bop she bop

Little bo peep, where are your sheep?
Fast asleep. dreams crashing to a stop.
Hale bop she bop

As we calmly face the countdown to the new millennium.
Is the age of peace upon us; or are we - hurtling towards
oblivion?

Twisted pysche, ads for nike.
Waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Hale bop she bop

Hush hush, don't rush pack your toothbrush.
Brings some cash in case we stop to shop.
Hale bop she bop

Everybody shares a vision. yearns to find a better way.
Put your faith in some religion. time to bow your head and pray.

Folk rock, brit pop, techno, don't stop.
Punk, jazz, fusion, alternative hip hop
Hale bop she bop

Cyber wave. high tech, star trek, holodeck.
Don't forget to bring your lollipop.
Hale bop she bop

Time to fribble in the meadow. time to wallow in the mire.
Time to gibble with the gumble. time to set the world on fire.

Late night, short flight, down load website;
Surfing the net on my laptop
Hale bop she bop

Don't fret, my pet. warm boot. reset.
Double zeros. take it from the top.
Hale bop she bop

If you're faced with indecision. if you're puzzled and
perturbed.
You can't tell with much precision. who is sane and who's
absurd?

Get straight. don't wait. it's not too late.
There's just one gateway straight to the top.
Hale bop she bop

It's a new day. that's what they say.
Take your seat and drink your soda pop.
Hale bop she bop

8.Hey, Hey, Hillary

By dean friedman

I met my love hillary at the local distillery.
She was leaning so languidly, on the window sillery.
And i was glued to my seat as i gazed at her feat.
Hey, hey, hillary. hey, hey, hillary.

My heart was hi-jacked. my lips were gobsmacked.
Her hair was shimmering. my brain was simmering.
Then my blood began to boil. my desire would not be foiled.
Hey, hey, hillary. hey, hey, hillary.

Hey, hey, hillary. hey, hey, hillary.
Right then and there i made a vow.
I'm gonna make her mine somehow.
Hey, hey, hillary. hey, hey, hillary.

My head was spinning like a top, as i offered her a cough drop.
And as she placed it on her tongue,
My stomach did a flip-flop.
When i invited her to dance,
That was the start of our romance.

Hey, hey, hillary. hey, hey, hillary.
And though she's got her share of quirks.
Living with her has got its perks.
Hey, hey, hillary. hey, hey, hillary.

Now we live the way we do, in our cozy little igloo.
Feasting on corn flakes, marzipan and hot cakes.
And when she leans against the sink, she's my saucy little
sausage link.

Hey, hey, hillary, hey, hey, hillary.
And though it may sound strange to say.
I thank my god everyday.
Hey, hey, hillary. hey, hey, hillary.

Hey, hey, hillary

9.Hob-nobbin'

By dean friedman

Superman is a friend of mine. he drops by my house all the time.
He's no different than me or you. he even helps start the
barbecue.
And when the rest of the guests get there,
He grills those burgers medium rare. and i'm

Hob-nobbin' sharin' a meal with the man of steel.
Hob-nobbin' hangin' loose with a guy named bruce.
Hob-nobbin' partee with the cats from dc.
Hob-nobbin' with batman and robin

Who's that raidin' the refridgerator? it's none other than the
caped crusader.
The boy wonder is in the den, playing five card stud with the
x-men.
And though i know it's not polite to point. but there's the
joker and the penguin and they're smokin' a joint. and i'm

Hob-nobbin' make the scene with wolverine
Hob-nobbin' talking trash with the flash
Hob-nobbin' gettin' in the swing with the thing
Hob-nobbin' with batman and robin

Daredevil he's the man without fear eatin' jalapeno peppers with
a cold beer.
The green hornet and kato too, and all they ever do is argue.
Silver surfer he's so cool, floatin' on his board in my swimming
pool. and i'm

Hob-nobbin' shootin' the breeze with mr. freeze
Hob-nobbin' gettin' tight with the dark knight
Hob-nobbin' sharin' a feast with the beast
Hob-nobbin' with batman and robin

Anytime i'm feelin' less than zero.
I get together with the superheros.

Had a little problem, it wasn't too drastic. got a helpin' hand
from mr. fantastic.
Someone locked the bathroom on the 2nd floor.
So, he reached through the window and he opened the door.
But when we walked in we were thunderstruck - supergirl was in
the bath with howard the duck. and i'm

Hob-nobbin' cruisin' the room with dr. doom
Hob-nobbin' sippin' cider with ghost rider
Hob-nobbin' talkin' up a storm with the storm
Hob-nobbin' with batman and robin

Sometimes spiderman, he swings by. he's a pretty introspective
guy.
He's not all that dynamic. likes to hang around in his webbed
hammock.
But let me tell you, spidey's in for a shock. 'cause gwendolyn's
dancin' with doc oc. and i'm

Hob-nobbin' gonna linger with the web-slinger
Hob-nobbin' hob-nobbin' with the hob-goblin
Hob-nobbin' just chillin' with the master villain
Hob-nobbin' with batman and robin

After a while the teenagers appear. we send 'em out for pizza
and beer.
When they return the music is pumpin', the temperature's hot and
the joint is jumpin'.
Thank stan and his gang and the cats from dc.
Superheros sure know how to party.

Hob-nobbin' make the scene with wolverine
Hob-nobbin' talking trash with the flash
Hob-nobbin' shootin' the breeze with mr. freeze
Hob-nobbin' with batman and robin

10.How Does This Story End?

By dean friedman

How does this story end?
I guess we'll have to wait until the final credits roll.
I suppose it will depend on whether two unlikely halves can make
a whole.
Or whether something hidden deep inside your soul can survive
the heartache that can't help but take its toll.

How does this tale unfold?
Do heroes vanquish foes like days of old.
Is it true all we've been told?
That loyalty is worth much more than gold.
And faith and trust return a thousand fold
And love's forever more once hearts take hold

How does this story end?
Are all the plot lines sealed?
Or just around the bend
Are all these mysteries revealed?
Where does this saga lead
Do we have the faintest clue?
Will fate somehow intercede?
Will i wind up with you?

How does this story end?
In an ivy covered cottage by a waterfall.
Is this all just pretend? or do we both live happy ever after
all? and all our hopes and fantasies come true and you'll always
love me and i will always love you.
Always love you.

11.It's A Wonderful Life

By dean friedman

We never knew where we were bound.
Just the same, we dashed our cups to pieces on the ground.
And i just can't believe that we're both still around.

It's a wonderful life.
It's a wonderful life.
When two unhappy people, trying to keep from harm,
Turn around and find themselves in each other's arms,
It's a wonderful life.

And sometimes the trouble never seems to cease.
And sometimes i feel just like a busted up valise.
Then the thought of you sets my mind at ease.

It's a wonderful life.
It's a wonderful life.
When two unhappy people, trying to keep from harm,
Turn around and find themselves in each other's arms,
It's a wonderful life.

And how you brighten each and every day.
With just a simple smile you chase my fears away.
Who'd of thought a bum like me would have the guts to say

It's a wonderful life.
It's a wonderful life.
When two unhappy people, trying to keep from harm,
Turn around and find themselves in each other's arms,
It's a wonderful life.

12.It's Only Make Believe

By dean friedman

I heard the news today some mother drowned her baby boys
And then went on tv and cried real tears but it was just a ploy.
People wonder what went wrong.
The answer's in this song.

You see, it's only make believe.
It's too impossible to believe.
And i'd feel oh so blue,
If it were really true.

I heard somebody say, the war in bosnia just won't go away.
And all those refugees, and the constant shelling day after day.
The rape and murdering. it can't be happening.

You see, it's only make believe.
It's too impossible to believe.
And i'd feel oh so blue,
If it were really true.

And now when i go home i watch the news on cnn
And i remain unfazed when another ten year old gets shot again.
It doesn't bother me.
It's just a fantasy.

You see, it's only make believe.
It's too impossible to believe.
And we'd feel oh so blue,
If it were really true.

You see, it's only make believe
I'm sure it's only make believe
I hope it's only make believe.

13.Jennifer's Baby

By dean friedman

Jennifer waited a year and a day.
She went to the doctor. they told her to pray.
She knew there was only so much they could say.
So, jennifer decided there must be a better way.

Wake up the neighbors and break out the ale.
Jennifer's baby just came in the mail.
She's pink and she's perfect in every detail.
And jennifer's a mommy now.

Jennifer always wanted a kid.
When they said that she couldn't she said, 'heaven forbid.'
She said, 'i'll adopt'. and that's what she did.
Now they've got a stroller, a high chair and a crib.

Wake up the neighbors and break out the ale.
Jennifer's baby just came in the mail.
She's pink and she's perfect in every detail.
And jennifer's a mommy now.

Jennifer has a girl baby.
She's healthy and strong and sweet as can be.
And jenny and larry and baby make three.
Once there was a couple. now there's a family.

Wake up the neighbors and break out the ale.
Jennifer's baby just came in the mail.
She's pink and she's perfect in every detail.
And jennifer's a mommy now.

14.Little Black Cloud

By dean friedman

I know a girl, her hair is brown.
She wears her smile upside down

There's a little black cloud hanging over her head
No one can count the tears she's shed.
There's a little black cloud that follows her around
But i'm gonna keep her safe and sound. safe and sound.

She acts so cool. i call her bluff.
'cause i know she is full of love.
She thinks i'm crazy, i guess it's true.
Crazy in love with you.

There's a little black cloud hanging over her head
No one can count the tears she's shed.
There's a little black cloud that follows her around
But i'm gonna keep her safe and sound. safe and sound.

Alone in a corner, she looks so sad.
Must have been a difficult time she had.
One of these days, the skies will clear
And that little cloud will disappear.

There's a little black cloud hanging over her head
No one can count the tears she's shed.
There's a little black cloud that follows her around
But i'm gonna keep her safe and sound. safe and sound.

15.Maybe In A Million Years

By dean friedman

Urchins and ragamuffins, see how they play.
Run through the ruins where the land mines lay.
When will this nightmare cease? when will we find a lasting
peace?

Maybe in a million years. maybe in a million years.
Maybe in a million years. maybe in a million years.
Maybe in a million years. we will overcome our fears.
We'll have shed a billion tears.

Satellite dishes sweeping the sky.
Searching for answers patiently awaiting their reply.
When will salvation come? when will all suffering be done?

Maybe in a million years. maybe in a million years.
Maybe in a million years. maybe in a million years.
Maybe in a million years. we will overcome our fears.
We'll have shed a billion tears.

Mountains and valleys, rivers and seas.
Eons go by as they change by gradual degrees.
If earth can evolve into something new, maybe there's hope for
mankind too.

Maybe in a million years. maybe in a million years.
Maybe in a million years. maybe in a million years.
Maybe in a million years. we will overcome our fears.
We'll have shed a billion tears.

16.Multimedia Man

By dean friedman

I found my place in cyberspace.
It just might save the human race.
Communication is, not just the music biz. not just the music
biz.

I'm a multimedia man. i'm a multimedia man.
I'm a multimedia man. i'm a multimedia man.

Virtual reality. is made for you. is made for me.
Just put your helmet on. and soon you will be gone. soon you
will be gone.

I'm a multimedia man. i'm a multimedia man.
I'm a multimedia man. i'm a multimedia man.

I'm a multimedia man. i know what i, i know what i, i know what
i am.

I held a planet in my hand.
It's difficult to understand.
Across the universe.
It's a blessing. it's a blessing. it's a blessing.

I'm a multimedia man. i'm a multimedia man.
I'm a multimedia man. i'm a multimedia man.
I'm a multimedia man. i'm a multimedia man

17.New Lang Syne

By dean friedman

There goes another year. champagne and resolutions.
Those hard to find solutions, suddenly crystal clear.
Watching the ball descending, life goes on, never ending.
Cherish the time we're spending before it disappears.

The year's end is here again.
A brand new one has just begun.
And all our friends, and loved ones too,
We share your hopes and dreams with you.

See how our lives are measured by planets and constellations,
By sorrows and celebrations; yet, one thing still holds true...
Searching for love's affection, suffering love's rejections,
With all of its imperfections, nothing else will do.

The year's end is here again.
A brand new one has just begun.
And all our friends, and loved ones too,
We share your hopes and dreams with you.

Here's to a healthy year, with happiness and good fortune.
To each an ample portion of laughter and good cheer.
And, as you face tomorrow, may it be free of sorrow.
Life is but ours to borrow, so hold each moment dear.

The year's end is here again.
A brand new one has just begun.
And all our friends, and loved ones too,
We share your hopes and dreams with you.
With you.

18.No One Knows

By dean friedman

She grew up across the hall, with a bear lying on her bed
And elton john up on the wall.
She followed him everywhere from nursery school to harvard
square.
They were born a year apart. they knew each other's souls by
heart.

No one knows. no one knows.
We try hard to be discreet. some things are trouble to disclose.
It keeps us on our toes. and no one knows.

She was popular in school. she was friends with all the boys
But there was only one voice that could wash away her blues.
She read him her poetry and pages from her diary.
He would long for her to stay. but she would blush and turn
away.

No one knows. no one knows.
We try hard to be discreet. some things are trouble to disclose.
It keeps us on our toes. and no one knows.

He came home one afternoon. she was lying on his bed watching tv
in his room.
She saw him standing there. she had no fear. she didn't care.
They spoke each other's name. the room burst out in flame.

No one knows. no one knows.
We try hard to be discreet. some things are trouble to disclose.
It keeps us on our toes. and no one knows.

19.Put You In My Pocket

By dean friedman

Did you know i like,
You know, i like the way
I really like the way you look.
And even though it's hard,
You know, it's difficult to say.
Without being mistook.

I want to
Put you in my pocket.
Put you in my pocket.
Put you in my pocket and take you home.

When i see you with your friends,
You know, the way you are.
The way you act so nonchalant.
I want to know your name.
I want to give you
Anything you want.

I want to
Put you in my pocket.
Put you in my pocket.
Put you in my pocket and take you home.

I could go on about your attributes.
But let me tell something,
Honey, you're so cute.
If i don't find some way to catch your eye,
You're gonna leave here with some other guy.

Maybe later, maybe, gee, i don't know,
Maybe we could talk.
Maybe we could dance real slow.
Maybe we could take a little stroll outside,
Listen to the cars and watch the moon rise.

And maybe you could
Put me in your pocket.
Put me in your pocket.
Put me in your pocket and take me home.

20.Sandy

By dean friedman

I fumble in my pockets for the keys to your fickle heart.
I drop them on the ground and then surprise, surprise you pick
'em up.
So i stand in the doorway wearing my patented foolish grin.
'til finally you take pity on my poor soul and you let me in.
The time has come. soon the ramparts will be overrun

I hang my hurt in the hallway and follow you up the stairs.
You leave a scattered trail of clothes straight up to your room.
For a couple of hours the planets from their paths they stray,
And every sense is filled with your sweet perfume.
And when you come, it's with such power, i am overcome.

Sandy, won't you ever make up your mind?
The love you're trying so hard find
Is standing right in front of you.
Don't you see that what you're searching for
Is waiting right outside this door?
All you have to do is listen to your love.

You sit up and turn on the tv with the remote control,
You flip through fifty seven channels but nothing's on.
And so you head into the kitchen and come back with a box of
oreos,
And arrange them on the bed like checkers all in a row.
And one by one, you make sure and sample everyone.

Sandy, won't you ever make up your mind?
The love you're trying so hard find
Is standing right in front of you.
Don't you see that what you're searching for
Is waiting right outside this door?
All you have to do is listen to your love.

21.Saturday Fathers

By dean friedman

Saturday fathers never win.
They're punished each day of their lives for their horrible sin.
They carry your picture. they show it to all their friends.
Daddy i know this isn't fair. but how can you love someone and
not be there?

Scooter, i can't come out and play.
My daddy's coming today.
He's taking us all away.
Listen, he's gonna be here soon.
I'll wait all afternoon.
My daddy's coming it's saturday.

Saturday fathers ache at the thought.
Their children's affection can be easily bought.
They take you to the park and they watch you grown.
Daddy i wish to god i knew. how come i try so hard to be not
like you?

Scooter, i can't come out and play.
My daddy's coming today.
He's taking us all away.
Listen, he's gonna be here soon.
I'll wait all afternoon.
My daddy's coming it's saturday.

Saturday children have no say.
You tear out their guts and they grow up anyway.
And the awful demands you make on our loyalty.
Daddy it's stuck inside my soul. how you make a choice like that
and still be whole?

Scooter, i can't come out and play.
My daddy's coming today.
He's taking us all away.
Listen, he's gonna be here soon.
I'll wait all afternoon.
My daddy's coming it's saturday.

Saturday, saturday

22.She's A Working Mom

By dean friedman

She's a working mom. from the time the alarm clock rings,
Till the coffee's on, she can handle a million things.
Their daddy's gone, but she keeps keeping on.
First she picks out their clothes, then she wipes a runny nose,
Makes their beds and when the bathtub overflows, she remains so
calm.

Let's here it for the working mom.
She goes to bed with the night light on.
'cause ghosts and goblins in the middle of the night,
Give sleepy children such a fright.
With one touch, they're gone.

She's a working mom. and she keeps all her kids in line,
With an outstretched palm, and a warning they'd better mind,
Cause one more time and they will see stars shine.
But they're not scared 'cause mommy starts to smile
And they all know that in a little while, things'll be just
fine.

Let's here it for the working mom.
She goes to bed with the night light on.
'cause ghosts and goblins in the middle of the night,
Give sleepy children such a fright.
With one touch, they're gone.

She's a working mom and it wasn't the life she chose.
Drive the kids to school and then off to work she goes.
But heaven knows, how her love for them grows.
At times it's hard, but she has no regrets
'cause in her heart she knows the love she gets, it overflows.

Let's hear it for the working mom.
She goes to bed with the night light on.
'cause ghosts and goblins in the middle of the night,
Give sleepy children such a fright.
With one touch, they're gone.

And ghosts and goblins in the middle of the night,
Give sleepy mommies such a fright.
With one touch they're gone.

Let's hear it for the working mom.
Let's hear it for the working mom

23.Sometimes I Forget

By dean friedman

We squabble and fight, we turn out the light
We toss and turn all through the night
But come the dawn our arms are wrapped around each other tight.
I know i hurt you babe, i didn't mean to make you so upset.
I love you more than i can say,
But sometimes i forget

Sometimes i forget

And when we're apart there's an ache in my heart.
It's been that way right from the start.
Still there are times i neglect to do my part
You know i still remember the first moment that we met.
I love you more and more each day
But sometimes i forget

Sometimes i forget

I wish i understood how it can feel so good
A love that is so sublime
But somehow it just slips my mind.

So let me say this, our love is bliss.
I'd risk a fortune just for your kiss.
And even so, i know i have been remiss.
So all your fears let me allay
You know you have no cause to fret.
My love will never go away
It's just sometimes i forget.

Sometimes i forget

24.The Dolphins Were Dancing

By dean friedman

Fell asleep in an easy chair with the tv on.
Found myself standing somewhere but the room was gone.
And a troop of chimpanzees were swinging through the trees
And flock of yellow birds were making up the words in perfect
harmony

And the dolphins were dancing...

And the sky was filled with birds for a thousand miles.
And the platypuses played along the shore with the crocodiles.
And a hundred thousand whales were balancing on their tails
And the starfish and the clams were in a circle holding hands
with the oysters and the snails

And the dolphins were dancing

And as the evening fell, the sky turned red and it seemed as if
somehow the sun had bled.
And i stared into the eyes of a million fire flies. and i heard
an eagle say, 'we celebrate this day man has finally passed
away.'

And the dolphins were dancing...

25.Typical Town

By dean friedman

Typical family in a typical town,
Chasing our dreams with the top rolled down.
Drive to the supermarket, travel up and down the aisles, past
cereal boxes for miles and miles and miles.

Stand in line at the register, looking through the magazines,
At julia roberts and all them beauty queens,
And ufo's in the usa and sightings of bigfoot, madonna and elvis
and jfk.

I know we're not alone. it's the same old story.
This place we call our home. it's a typical town. and we're a
typical family.

Typical family in a typical town,
Dress up our kids in hand-me-downs.
Drive 'em to little league after school,
Dance class, piano lessons, teach them to swim in the neighbor's
pool.

Pick up the paper, bringin' in the mail,
Sort through the bills and the half-price discount sales.
All we ever fight about is money and sex.
Just hire a babysitter and take your honey to the cineplex.

I know we're not alone. it's the same old story.
This place we call our home. it's a typical town. and we're a
typical family.

Settle down for supper, kick off your shoes.
Tuna surprise and the evening news.
Help them with their homework, spend some time with your kids.
Play some video games and send them to bed with a goodnight
kiss.

Peace and quiet at the end of the day.
Turn on the tv and wash your cares away.
All the wars and floods and assorted tragedies.
Just thank god it didn't happen to you or me.

I know we're not alone. it's the same old story.
This place we call our home. it's a typical town. and we're a
typical family.

26.Under A Canopy

By dean friedman

Under a canopy in the freezing rain,
You said you wanted me. i was struck dumb.
As soon as he stepped outside, i was sure he knew.
I feared for him. i feared for you.

Now, don't be scared. this is just where you belong.
And i don't care, if the whole world says we're wrong.
I love you and all i want is to have you at my side,
To hold you in my arms, to feel you all warm and misty eyed.

You have a husband. he is my closest friend.
You are a mother. you have one son.
You made a covenant. you took a sacred vow.
That was then. this is now.

But, don't be scared. this is just where you belong.
And i don't care, if the whole world says we're wrong.
I love you and all i want is to have you at my side,
To hold you in my arms, to feel you all warm and misty eyed.

Business and politics are subtle art. and stealing your best
friend's wife is a fine start.
But nothing i've ever done or will ever do. will be quite as
pure, or half as true.

So, don't be scared. this is just where you belong.
And i don't care, if the whole world says we're wrong.
I love you and all i want is to have you at my side,
To hold you in my arms, to feel you all warm and misty eyed.

27.Where Have All The Angels Flown?

By dean friedman

Sprawling spired skylines, sparkle in the night
Sprinkling angel dust on everything in sight.
In the shadows far below, nestled deep within,
Lies a cardboard shanty town shaking in the wind.
Huddled in the darkness, strays outside the fold
Citizens of nowhere seeking shelter from the cold

Where have all the angels flown?
To their father's golden throne?
Leaving we of merely flesh and blood and bone
Stranded on the surface of this our fragile home.

Kings in crystal castles, feast on fortune's fare
While surly subjects seem to vanish in thin air
Red ripe rivers rise on falsely fertile fields.
While we all watch in wonder at the weapons wisemen wield.
Friends all but forgotten; memories grow dim
Prayers no more than whispers; sing a silent hymm

Where have all the angels flown?
To their father's golden throne?
Leaving we of merely flesh and blood and bone
Stranded on the surface of this our fragile home.

Somewhere in some city sprawled on some factory floor.
Tiny fingers spinning silken patterns for
Princes and princesses, debutantes and heirs
Under some illusion that what they have is theirs
Whiled tethered to their stations lesser souls do yearn
Perchance to buy their freedom with the pennies that they earn.

Where have all the angels flown?
To their father's golden throne?
Leaving we of merely flesh and blood and bone
Stranded on the surface of this our fragile home.

28.Wishing On A Satellite

By dean friedman

Looking down on the earth's crust, watching the last sunset.
Just a sprinkling of stardust, orange and violet.
And to the east in the autumn sky, blinking on and off like a
firefly,
Sailing south in silence like a supersonic spy

Wishing on a satellite. wishing on a satellite.
I wish i may i wish i might, have the wish i wish tonight.

Heavenly bodies hurtling through space.
Orbiting oddities guarding the human race.
Silver sentries of the stratosphere, trying to keep the peace on
the new frontier.
Pray for their success or we'll all disappear.

Wishing on a satellite. wishing on a satellite.
I wish i may i wish i might, have the wish i wish tonight.

Platinum prophets circling the earth,
And the light bouncing off it announces a savior's birth.
Now's the time for a moratorium, 'cause who can say for sure if
the messiah will ever come,
And we could be bathed in darkness for the next millennium.

Wishing on a satellite. wishing on a satellite.
I wish i may i wish i might, have the wish i wish tonight.
